 Homestyle Desserts had its origins in the Village of Buchanan in 1969. Rose got her start in the business by making apple dumplings in a coal oven at the bake shop called Dutch Mill Donuts. Today Julie is the manager of Homestyle Desserts and our longest standing employee! In 1984, after a few name changes, larger menu and a mostly wholesale client base, the bakery moved into it's new location in Peekskill, New York. Homestyle took over the old Monument Printers building on South Water Street which transformed the space into a working wholesale bakery with an eye headed towards building a retail business. By 1989, a space was dedicated to the ever budding interest by the public in our products. As the retail business has grown so has our storefront. In 2015, Rose retired and passed down her business to her children, Jason Elias and Laura Timmons. By 1989, a space was dedicated to the ever budding interest by the public in our products. As the retail business has grown so has our storefront. In 2015, Rose retired and passed down her business to her children, Jason Elias and Laura Timmons. Together they are responsible for recreating the apple cider donut, constructing the Cannoli chip and dip and offering a new line of cheesecakes and specialty pastries. Jason and Laura have also successfully renovated the Bakery to create a beautiful new storefront located across from the Peekskill Brewery. The new entrance allows for more space for a wider range of products including a tea and coffee station. As the business expands we are lucky to introduce Homestyle Desserts in Cold Spring (2018). This storefront allows us to provide our products to more people in the Hudson Valley area. We are so happy to be welcomed into the Cold Spring community. For this location we were inspired to create new products that are gluten free and vegan so that everyone can enjoy our delicious sweets. Directly next to the bakery we created a third business Homestyle Creamery (2019). The Creamery allows us to combine Homestyle's baked goods with ice cream! The pairing of donuts filled with Cookies and Cream or biting into a Chocolate Dipped Cannoli Sunday makes our mouth water! We are coming up with new ice cream and pastry fusions everyday! Today we are lucky to have growing businesses, both wholesale and retail. We specialize in Viennese desserts, pies, cheesecakes, wedding cakes, special occasion cakes, cookies and cupcakes. Homestyle Desserts takes great pride in the care and professionalism we extend to our customers and our products. Our recipes have been passed down for over 50 years and we are proud to keep our products made from scratch.
